When I was a kid, I loved baking with my mom. She was a a great baker, and she would always get us kids involved. In first grade, she made these yummy cupcakes in a cone. She even added little fortunes to to the top of each one.
My brother, who teased me relentlessly, like all good big brothers do, offered to help. I DID NOT want him to help, because I frankly did not trust him. My mom, being the nice person that she was, let him help anyway.
I took the cupcakes to school, and they were a big hit! My first grade teacher, Mrs. Miller, had each of us stand up and read our fortune. One of the boys in my class told her that he did not want to read his. It stated, “Stefanie is a frog.” She told him, “Go ahead. You can read it.” Needless to say, I cried that day, but now I have a very funny story to tell!

I’m carrying on the tradition with my kids, minus the fortunes. My daughter helped me make them today. She is quite the little baker! They turned out great. They are super easy to make. When you are making them, be sure to put a cookie sheet underneath, or they might bubble over and make a mess in your oven. The following recipe is from Sugar Spun Run. She has amazing recipes.
